Website hosting fees are becoming more expensive every year. Hosting fees used to be reasonable, but the market has changed to where the first year is fine, but after that fees start to soar, and changing hosts frequently is a tedious and time-consuming process. And, unfortunately, the site ads aren't covering it. If you can, please consider a small donation to PopApostle with the PayPal button below...any amount is appreciated. Thank you!

If donations are strong enough, I will eliminate the site ads.

Notes from the Jurassic Park chronology

This episode takes place immediately after the events of "The Watering Hole".

Didja Know?

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is a CG-animated TV series that aired on the Netflix streaming service from 2020-2022 for five seasons and one special. While the first couple of episodes take place before and during the events of Jurassic World, the rest of them take place shortly after that film, and about three years before the events of Fallen Kingdom. Netflix is currently producing episodes of a sequel series, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, whose first season began in May 2024.

Each episode of the series opens with the words "A Netflix Original Series" over what appears to be a T. rex footprint in the jungle mud.

The Universal Pictures logo that appears after this is altered from the usual to have the Earth globe with a continent that looks very roughly like the supercontinent Pangaea may have looked in the Triassic-Jurassic periods of the Mesozoic era, 200-150 million years ago.

As the Universal Earth globe spins, a second "continent" seen is actually a stylized DreamWorks Pictures logo (a boy sitting with a fishing pole on the crescent Moon), followed by the Amblin Entertainment logo.

The dinosaur that bursts out of the bursts out of the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous gates at the beginning of the opening titles of each episode is a Tyrannosaurus rex, possibly the infamous Rexy herself, but we don't see its right side close enough to see if it has Rexy's raptor scars incurred in Jurassic Park

Didja Notice?

Darius says that compys are crepuscular. This means they tend to be active at twilight.

The Ceratosaurus the kids encounter here is not the same one Darius and Kenji met in "The Watering Hole". That one was all grey in color, this one is colored similarly to the one seen on Isla Sorna in Jurassic Park III, with a red head and white-and-black body.

When the kids meet the Wyleys, notice that Mitch Wyley is dressed similarly to how Dr. Grant dressed in Jurassic Park, with a blue, button-up shirt and white Panama-type hat. It may have been an intentional choice on Mitch's part, to lure in Darius, who has some hero-worship for Dr. Grant, and gain his trust for tracking dinosaurs on the island.

Brooklynn says her online video series is called Brooklynn Unboxes the World.

When the Wyleys and Hap take the kids to their campsite, notice that when they arrive, the picnic table and the tents are already set for eight people (Mr. and Mrs. Wyley, Hap, and the five kids). Did the Wyleys already know they would find the five kids that day?

The Wyleys tell the kids their boat is away getting refueled in Papagayo and will be back in a couple days. This probably refers to the Papagayo Marina on the Papagayo Peninsula of Costa Rica.

Mitch shows Darius some photos of Big Five animals he and his wife took in Botswana. The Big Five animals of Africa are those considered to be the most difficult to hunt: cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and rhinoceros.

Mitch's camera is a JC 1000 and Kenji claims he also has one, as well as a JC 3000 prototype never on the market. These appear to be fictitious camera models.

Tiff gives Sammy a back massage and says she has a Reiki healer back home who showed her a few tricks. Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that uses gentle touch to promote relaxation and well-being through the flow of chi life-force energy from the palms. It is considered pseudoscience by Western academics.

When Brooklynn awakens Kenji after he falls asleep on her shoulder, he mumbles, "I'll save you, mermaid," and she exasperatedly asks him, "Do you only have one dream?" This refers to his remark in "Secrets" when he said, "A dream is like when you save a bunch of mermaids from a shark."

Arriving back at the campsite after Tiff's "odd" conversation with Hap over the radio, Tiff tells the kids she and Mitch are going to their yurt for a quick grown-up conversation and that they'll "BRB". BRB is internet abbreviation for "be right back."
