Land of the Lost 1990s
Episode Studies

As I re-watch the episodes of Land of the Lost on DVD I'll be posting my studies relating to each episode such as translations of Pakuni words used, sound bits of memorable dialog and screen grabs. Please note, I will be listing the episodes as presented in my re-interpretation of the chronology, not in airdate order (see my Porter Timeline.)

The Porter family finds themselves flung into a dangerous prehistoric world populated by dinosaurs and while setting up a tree-house home, they adopt a baby dinosaur and are attacked by a T. rex.

The Porters meet two intelligent denizens of their new world. An eclipse of the triple moons causes strange behavior in the creatures of the Land of the Lost. Seeking a way home, the Porters encounter evil lizard-people known as Sleestak. Annie comes into possession of Shung’s power crystal.

Tom decrees that Tasha must be returned to the wild.

A 12th century knight arrives through a portal.  A lava flow threatens the Porters’ home. Shung takes control of Christa’s mind. A series of quakes leads the Porters to believe that a portal has opened.

A heat wave sends the Porters in search of water and Stink in search of his favorite fruit. Stink is blamed for stealing the Porter’s possessions from the tree-house. Tom goes in search of power crystals to replace the equipment’s failing batteries.    

    Season Two

Stink’s long-missing grandfather returns. A sorcerer and sorceress from another world battle against each other with the Porters caught in the middle. When the Porters start receiving Earth T.V. broadcasts, they suspect a portal has opened…but they instead find their old San Francisco neighborhood in the middle of the jungle. Using the power crystal, Shung takes control of the minds of Christa and the Porters, forcing them to battle in a gladiatorial arena. A trip to a beautiful beach triggers Christa’s memories of her mysterious past.

Annie befriends a time-traveller from Earth’s future. While visiting with Namaki, the Porters are confronted with visions of Natasha Porter. Kevin is blinded by a spitting viper in the Valley of Death. Annie is left in charge when the cyborg returns and renders Tom and Kevin amnesiac. Kevin comes across an old laser-gun which he uses to seek revenge on the Sleestak.

When Kevin eats some fermented fruit he gets up the nerve to ask Christa for a date. Annie is entrusted with Keela’s book of spells. Kevin learns a lesson in parenting when Tasha goes through the terrible twos and Stink fakes an injury for sympathy.
